Mad for Plaid

Maybe it’s because I was a teenager in the 90s, but I’ve always been a sucker for plaid. So when I was looking for matching family outfits for our Christmas card photos, I gravitated toward all the tartans. I meant to share these sooner, but the cards themselves didn’t even show up in my mailbox until Dec.  23, so I figured a bit of a delay is allowed.

I have to be honest: I wasn’t sure this much red plaid would work together, which is why Toby wore a pullover sweater and Arabella and I wore cardigans. Now I’m thinking it would have been cute.

I looked on Pinterest for some inspiration, but it seems like everyone was in head to toe neutrals, which clearly isn’t my jam. We did the photos at a Christmas tree farm, so I didn’t think green was a good pick, and I definitely wasn’t going to wear beige or cream with just a tiny smidge of maroon on it.

So what do you think? Are you Team Neutrals or Team Color?

All of our red plaid items (and my black cardigan) are from J.Crew Factory, though only my dress and Toby’s shirt are still available (this one is similar to Arabella’s). Arabella’s boots and tights are from Gap Kids, her cardigan is J.Crew, and her red coat is Beaufort Bonnet Company (similar here). **Please note these are all affiliate links**

  1. Definitely, COLOR, who wants to be neutral?? You all look great, shots could have been taken in Scotland for all we know. Thought Toby’s black pullover was a really nice touch. So good to see you all!
