Colorful in California

If you’ve ever lived in (or even been to) the South, you’ve probably seen Lilly Pulitzer clothing. The uber colorful brand, which started from uniforms at a juice stand in Palm Beach, Fla., tends to be extra popular at Southern sorority houses and the beach towns south of the Mason-Dixon line. But like sweet tea and dressing up for football games, Lilly Pulitzer is not a thing in the western U.S.  There are only a handful of stores west of Dallas, and even when hoarders were loading up their Target carts across the country in an effort to buy every single item from the LP-Target collaboration last year, I was able to find several things at the Targets in north San Diego County.

But despite the fact that the brand itself isn’t big in California, I think the colors and prints are perfect for a beach vacation, wherever that beach may be.

Not everything I wore in Newport and Laguna Beach was Lilly, but there was definitely a lot of color going on.

As you can see, my family is generally into colorful outfits, too.

I apologize in advance, because I think I bought almost everything in this post on sale, which means some of the exact items are not available anymore. But if you do happen to see a Lilly Pulitzer store, make sure you check the sale racks! There are usually some good deals (and the twice-yearly online sale is a disaster).
