Valentine’s Day baking

I have a ton of things to share with you in the next few weeks, but since it’s Valentine’s Day weekend, I thought it might be helpful to put together a few ideas for baking projects. Sweets for your sweetheart, if you will.

Two-ingredient Nutella browniesDo you have eggs, a jar of Nutella, and some kind of electric mixer? If so, you’re ready to make these impossibly gooey and delicious brownies. I made them for Super Bowl and cut them into football shapes, but use a heart cookie cutter to cut the completely cooled brownies for extra Valentine-ness.

Quick chocolate mousse: This may not be the traditional way to make it, but it certainly is easy… and delicious.

Secret ingredient chocolate cake: Rich chocolate cake is even better when it has hidden vegetables.

Chocolate-cinnamon cutouts: I made these as cherry blossoms, but they’d be even easier as hearts!

Belgian brownie bites: I haven’t made this recipe yet, but the inspiration for it is one of my favorite things.

Raspberry cupcakes with blood-orange buttercream: Not your average pink cupcakes.

Valentine’s stained-glass cakeFor the Jell-O lover.

Heart tarts: Homemade pop tarts, in the shape of hearts.

Strawberry and champagne macarons: Fancy!

Summer strawberry cake: Less fancy, but it’s pink and full of strawberry goodness.

Red velvet whoopie pies: I’ll leave the terrible jokes out of this, but clearly these are perfect for the day of love.

Cherries on a cloud: The photos on this post are terrible, but the dessert itself is divine.

Hidden heart chocolate cupcakes: Chocolate cake with a raspberry heart waiting inside. Romantical.

Cherry pie: Toby’s favorite.

Raspberry pie: My favorite.

Vanilla marshmallows: Because nothing says “I love you” like homemade marshmallows.
