Go Navy!

One of the first things we did upon arriving in the DC area was look up the Navy football schedule. We didn’t get season tickets or anything, but we did manage to get tickets for a few of the games, including the first home game of the season. I think you all know my philosophy on dressing for football games, and I have a bunch of navy and gold clothes and various anchor accessories still from when we lived here before, but it was super hot that day so I wanted to wear a lightweight dress.

We got really lucky — our seats were in the shade, so we were hot but not boiling. And my leopard-print flats were comfy enough for walking all around the stadium and parking lot.

After the game, we found out that several of our friends were in town for the game, because it was their class year’s homecoming. It was kind of like our own personal friend reunion.

I had been talking to my friend Amy about dressing for football games, and she is firmly in the sweatshirt or jersey + jeans camp, but I think the difference is that in the South, it’s so hot for most of football season that a dress is comfortable. In the Midwest and other parts of the country, you need to wear jeans and sweatshirts (or coats and scarves) to stay warm. Anyway, I had planned on wearing a super cute and comfortable navy blue dress with anchors printed on it for the Navy-Air Force game, but it was cold and rainy and kind of miserable, so I had to break out some waterproof boots, a sweatshirt and a scarf.
