Fab Fave Friday – running

One day in 8th grade, I saw the new girl (I recognized her from cheerleading tryouts) walking down the street, so I opened my window and yelled hello to her. Within a few weeks, Leigh Anne and I were basically inseparable. And, of course, in the few hours a day we weren’t together, we wrote each other notes (which were then folded into elaborate shapes).

At some point, Leigh Anne came up with the idea of the “fab fave” list, basically a snapshot of our favorite things (and a way to help feed her scrapbook obsession). We would write lists for each other with blanks to fill out. Fave marker color? Fave item of clothing I own? Fave boy at church? Fave movie starring Keanu? I think you get the idea.

It is in the spirit of 90s LA and Jen that I start a Fab Fave Friday tradition here on the blog. The theme of my first FF list is running… which is appropriate, given that LA has always been a fitness fanatic (I am not, as you may have guessed from looking at me).

The Nike fuel band (above left) counts your steps, tell you how many calories you burned, tells time and looks like a Lite Brite. I love it. The Brooks “run happy” shirt on the top right has a cupcake on it, so clearly I had to have it. And it’s on sale.

The aqua thermal hoodie is perfect for cold or just chilly weather — it has all sorts of cool pockets, a place to pull your ponytail through the hood, and thumbholes to keep the sleeves down. The hot pink windbreaker I wore for the Cooper River Bridge Run is also from Brooks (and also has thumb holes). Similar is available here.

The headband I have on is also one of my faves — it’s sparkly and stays on my head while I’m running. I also have a pink zebra-print one that is awesome, but they have all sorts of colors and prints.

And my neon shoes? You can design your own here.

For pants, I like the Lucy “power core” pants (they hold your tummy in and come in different lengths) and the endurance capris. I’ve also had a lot of luck with workout pants from Target and Old Navy.

What about you? What are your fab running faves?
