Croquet

Today was the 30th meeting of St. John’s College and the United States Naval Academy in an epic battle of… croquet.

Yeah. And the midshipmen lost for the 25th time.

The good news is there were a bunch of amazing outfits. For example:

I had gotten a new, super cute Lilly Pulitzer dress to wear with the yellow hat I wore last year, but I didn’t think 50 degrees and rainy was quite the right weather for that outfit.

However, it was the perfect weather for my cape.

There was quite an uproar among St. John’s students and alumni over this year’s new rule: No outside alcohol allowed. In fact, the St. John’s team dressed like campus police in protest. But the rule didn’t seem to have a major impact on attendance. There was still plenty of alcohol to be had, and there was far less drunken jackassery than last year. That’s always a good thing.

Lovely.
