On jumpsuits

OK. I know I said that no one should ever wear jumpsuits, and that they are a crime against humanity (and your body). But recent fashion-related reality television events have caused me to change my mind slightly.

First, Sheena on America’s Next Top Model All-Stars. Forgive this photo — I couldn’t find a picture online, so I had to pause the show on my laptop and take a picture of that. But this vintage jumpsuit was amazing on her:

(Yes, it kinda looks like an Aladdin costume in this picture… but it looked fantastic when she walked/moved).

Next, Anya on Project Runway. Like most former Miss Universe contestants, Anya is gorgeous. She can wear any kind of crazy caftan or jumpsuit and look great. And even though she only recently learned to sew, she can make a cuter outfit for $11.50 than some of the other designers could make for $100. She also made this, which is already sold out on piperlime.com:

Maybe I like it because it looks more like a maxi dress than a jumpsuit? And unfortunately, I think you have to be built like a model to look good in either of these. But I will concede that there are certain occasions when a jumpsuit is permitted.

Don’t expect me to change my mind about rompers, though.
